Rule 1. No Smudging. Why use your finger when you've got all that control in the tip of your pencil? Rule 2. Patience. This applies to each work as well but especially to your overall development. Rule 3. Good Lighting. Make sure you have light coming from all angles and don't allow your hand to cast a shadow across the page. Rule 4. Paper. Textured paper is a must to give your work an organic feel. Rule 5. Take Breaks. This allows you to step away and see your progression from an outside perspective. Rule 6. Go Softly. Treat it like a game of billiards. Save the black til last. Rule 7. Stimulation. I am constantly listening to my favourite music or some other form of entertainment while I draw.
